Woodside's Texas Ammonia Plant Faces Production Delay Due to Feedstock Construction Issues

Woodside Energy's Beaumont New Ammonia facility in southeast Texas will miss its 2026 lower-carbon production target after construction problems at a third-party hydrogen supply site caused delays.

FieldNews Staff |

According to Rigzone, Woodside Energy has confirmed its Beaumont New Ammonia (BNA) facility in southeast Texas will not begin lower-carbon production this year as originally planned. The delay stems from construction problems at a third-party feedstock supply facility tied to Linde’s hydrogen plant and ExxonMobil’s carbon capture and storage project. Woodside acquired the $1.62 billion facility from OCI Global and has now assumed full operational control.

What It Means for Subcontractors

  • Construction contractors and specialty trades remain active at the Beaumont site as close-out work and dispute resolution continues under OCI’s remaining contractual obligations, meaning invoice and claims work is still ongoing.
  • The delay extends the project timeline, keeping opportunities open for instrumentation, mechanical, and commissioning subcontractors as the facility prepares for eventual startup.
  • With peak capacity of 1.1 million metric tons per year, BNA represents a long-term source of maintenance, inspection, and turnaround work for Gulf Coast service providers once operations begin.
