Emerson Software Links Four Colorado Renewable Sites for Holy Cross Energy
Control Global reports that Emersonโs Ovation Green SCADA software is now running the show for Holy Cross Energy, a member-owned electric cooperative based in Glenwood Springs, Colo. The platform gives operators unified, real-time control over four renewable generation sites, Mamm Creek, High Mesa, Hunter and Bronco Plains II, that together serve more than 45,000 members and roughly 52,000 households with a peak load near 300 megawatts. The software lets operators set day-ahead and multi-day-ahead dispatch schedules, track KPI dashboards, monitor power purchase agreement compliance and analyze downtime across the mixed solar, wind and battery storage fleet from a centralized, 24/7 control center.
What It Means for Subcontractors
- Utilities consolidating multiple renewable sites under one SCADA platform tend to standardize commissioning and integration specs across future builds, so E&I contractors bidding future Holy Cross or similar co-op projects should expect Ovation Green compatibility requirements written into scopes of work.
- Battery energy storage system schedulers and telemetry tools cited in the source point to ongoing demand for instrumentation, controls, and BESS integration specialists on multi-site renewable portfolios, not just one-off project builds.
- Co-ops managing PPA compliance and performance dashboards internally may shift more O&M and downtime-analysis work to specialized field service firms rather than site-by-site contractors, so subcontractors should position service offerings around fleet-wide maintenance contracts rather than single-facility bids.
