According to Permian Basin Oil & Gas Magazine, Midland-based MCM Delaware Resources closed a $62.6 million acquisition of crude oil and natural gas assets from Battalion Oil Corp. last week. The deal includes 6,207 net acres in the West Quito Draw area of Ward County in the southern Delaware Basin.

MCM plans to immediately integrate the Battalion assets into its development program. CEO Miles McPherren said the acquisition expands the company’s core position in Ward County and materially increases its operated inventory, with a focus on building a scaled development program with repeatable drilling opportunities across multiple zones.

What It Means for Subcontractors

  • New drilling activity expected as MCM integrates these assets into active development, creating potential work for drilling, completion, and production services in Ward County
  • Asset consolidation typically leads to more efficient operations and sustained activity levels, offering better visibility for service contracts
  • MCM’s focus on “repeatable drilling opportunities” suggests consistent, predictable work patterns that subcontractors can plan around
