According to World Oil, Battalion Oil has agreed to acquire 7,090 net acres in Ward County, Texas, expanding its Monument Draw position in the Permian basin through an all-stock transaction with RoadRunner Resource Holding LLC. The deal adds about 30 drilling locations targeting the Wolfcamp A, Wolfcamp B and 3rd Bone Spring formations, with development expected to benefit from Battalion’s recent sour gas processing agreement with Targa Resources.

What It Means for Subcontractors

  • Drilling activity ramp-up: 30 new locations means sustained work for drilling contractors, completion crews, and logistics providers in Ward County over the next 12-24 months
  • Infrastructure advantage: Battalion’s existing Targa processing agreement removes a major bottleneck, suggesting faster pad development and more predictable scheduling for service companies
  • Operational continuity: The acreage directly adjoins existing holdings, creating larger drilling programs that typically favor established local contractors with proven performance records
