According to Drilling Contractor, EON Resources will recomplete five vertical San Andres wells for roughly $2 million before launching a broader 92-well horizontal drilling program in the Permian Basin. Partner Virtus Energy is set to begin horizontal drilling in Q2 2026, with EON targeting 10 horizontal wells this year and 10 to 20 annually thereafter. Each well is expected to average around 400 bbl/d, with early production near 500 bbl/d net.

What It Means for Subcontractors

  • Perforation and hydraulic fracturing crews have near-term work as the recompletion phase kicks off ahead of Q2 results.
  • Directional drilling, completions, and wellsite service companies should position now, with three horizontal wells spudding in Q2 and a long-term cadence of up to 20 wells per year on 20,000 leasehold acres.
  • Permitting is already submitted and approvals are expected within 90 days, meaning the timeline is real and procurement conversations are likely underway.
