Major GCs Post Big Contract Wins Across Data Centers, Rail and Health Care This Summer
Construction Dive’s summer roundup shows major general contractors picking up sizable work across sports, health care, water, rail and semiconductor manufacturing as the busy season ramps up. Bechtel will mobilize immediately at Micron’s $100 billion New York megafab site in Clay. Kiewit Stacy Witbeck Herzog landed a $3.5 billion, 119-mile California high-speed rail segment between Bakersfield and Merced, targeting trains running by 2033. In New York City, Turner-Consigli will build the $2.3 billion Kenneth C. Griffin Pavilion cancer center with 12 operating suites and 208 inpatient beds, while Skanska, Walsh and Traylor Bros picked up a $1.02 billion subway extension just months after winning the Hudson Tunnel megaproject. Jacobs joins Gilbane and Turner on a $1.7 billion New York public health lab targeting 2030 completion. Water and infrastructure wins include Zachry affiliate Crescent Constructors’ $89 million Lewisville, Texas water job, Carollo Engineers’ $210 million California water contract, and Granite’s $117 million Utah Route 177 highway extension. Turner also scored a $282 million arena modernization in South Carolina, Manhattan and AECOM Hunt will manage a $1.45 billion University of Florida stadium renovation, and Tutor Perini unit Fisk Electric grabbed a $48 million data center manufacturing facility job in Houston.
