Infrastructure Ontario's June Market Update Covers 24 Projects Worth More Than $25 Billion

According to the Daily Commercial News, Infrastructure Ontario (IO) has released its June Market Update, covering 24 projects currently in pre-procurement and active procurement with a combined design and construction value of more than $25 billion.

Market Impact

The update, which reflects data as of June 19, 2026, also includes 19 government-announced projects in early planning phases. The pipeline spans healthcare, transit, corrections, and cultural facilities across Ontario.

Several major milestones are noted in the update. The Finch West LRT and Eglinton Crosstown LRT have reached substantial completion. Three projects have moved to contract execution: the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Phase 1 Redevelopment ($30 million, New Tecumseth), the New Ontario Science Centre Facility ($1.04 billion, Toronto), and the Ontario Place Redevelopment Parking Structure ($198 million, Toronto).

Projects newly entering active procurement include the Oak Valley Healthcare Uxbridge Redevelopment (valued at $200 million), the Windsor Regional Hospital Fancsy Family Hospital Contract 1 Diagnostic and Treatment Block ($100 million), and the Brockville Correctional Complex/St. Lawrence Valley Correctional and Treatment Centre ($200 million to $499 million). New projects highlighted in the update include the Ontario Provincial Police Detachment and Ontario Place Administrative and Maintenance Complex, and the University Health Network Proton Beam Therapy Facility.

What It Means for Subcontractors

  • The move of multiple healthcare projects into active procurement, including two hospital RFQs, means subcontractors specializing in medical construction, mechanical, electrical, and specialty trades should be tracking these bids now.
  • The $1.04 billion New Ontario Science Centre and $198 million Ontario Place Parking Structure reaching contract execution signals that trade packages for both projects are likely to flow in the near term.
  • With 19 projects still in early planning, subcontractors have a window to build relationships with general contractors and design-build teams before RFQs are issued.
  • The Brockville Correctional Complex, valued between $200 million and $499 million, represents a significant secured-facility project requiring contractors with relevant clearance and experience in that sector.
