Brookside Spuds First Suttles Pad Well in Anadarko Basin's SWISH Area

Kenai Drilling Rig 18 has spudded the Sabres 2-1-1S-3W SXH1 well, the first of two horizontal wells planned for Brookside Energyโ€™s Suttles pad in the SWISH Area of Interest in Oklahomaโ€™s Anadarko Basin, Drilling Contractor reports. The rig is currently drilling the 17-1/2 inch surface hole section, with the well targeting the Sycamore Formation at approximately 7,700 feet and designed with a roughly 1.5-mile lateral. Once Sabres is complete, Rig 18 will skid a short distance across the pad to drill the Whalers 2-1-1S-3W WXH2 well, which targets the Woodford Formation from an adjacent surface location. The Suttles pad is part of Brooksideโ€™s repeatable multi-well development model in the SWISH area.

What It Means for Subcontractors

  • Oklahoma-based crews supporting surface hole drilling, mud logging, and casing work should expect near-term demand at the Suttles pad as Rig 18 moves between the Sabres and Whalers wells on the same location.
  • The padโ€™s two-well, skid-based design signals follow-on work for completions crews, including fracturing and flowback services, once both laterals in the Sycamore and Woodford formations are drilled.
  • Brooksideโ€™s stated โ€œrepeatable multi-well development modelโ€ in the SWISH AOI suggests additional pad developments may follow, giving pressure pumping, wireline, and trucking contractors a basis to position for repeat business in the Anadarko Basin rather than a one-off job.
