South Bow, Bridger Plan Wyoming-to-Oklahoma Pipeline Leg
According to Pipeline Technology Journal, citing a Reuters report, South Bow and Bridger Pipeline plan to jointly build a new oil pipeline from Guernsey, Wyoming, to Cushing, Oklahoma. The route forms the third leg of a larger project moving Alberta crude to the Cushing trading hub, following a right-of-way reportedly acquired from Tallgrass Energy’s canceled Liberty Pipeline. The line connects with the Prairie Connector, a partial Keystone XL revival backed by a cross-border permit. South Bow plans to resume construction in mid-2027, targeting operations by late 2028.
What It Means for Subcontractors
- Landowner and community engagement work is starting now, creating early opportunities for land agents, surveyors, and environmental assessment crews along the Wyoming-to-Oklahoma corridor.
- A multi-year build timeline (construction resuming mid-2027, operational by late 2028) signals a pipeline of upcoming demand for welders, pipefitters, right-of-way clearing crews, and civil earthwork contractors.
- Companies with experience on prior Keystone XL-related work or Rockies/Bakken pipeline projects may have an edge bidding into this corridor given its ties to the shelved Liberty Pipeline route.
