Rare-Earth Plant, Army Munitions Facility, Nevada Grid Build Headline Bid Activity

USA Rare Earth has broken ground on a roughly $1.2 billion magnet and rare-earth metal manufacturing complex in Blacksburg, South Carolina, a 124-acre, 800,000-square-foot project expected to create about 490 jobs and begin commissioning in 2028, with Clark Construction Group and Frampton Construction serving as design-builder and Trammell Crow Company as developer. Separately, the Army has awarded Nitradyn LLC a $581.16 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to design, build and commission a facility producing Insensitive Munition eXplosive-104, with an estimated completion date of August 9, 2030 and individual order locations still to be determined. In Nevada, GridLiance West, a NextEra Energy Transmission subsidiary, has started work on about 155 miles of new 230-kV and 500-kV transmission lines and associated substations under its Core Upgrades Project, targeted for completion in mid-2028 and expected to support around 500 construction jobs.
