OSHA's Safe & Sound Week Returns Aug. 10-16
Registration is now open for the 10th annual Safe & Sound Week, running Aug. 10-16, Safety+Health Magazine reports. The national initiative brings together OSHA, NIOSH and a coalition of safety groups, including the National Safety Council, to promote workplace safety and health programs. The Department of Labor describes the week as a chance to “celebrate your accomplishments, engage your team and show your ongoing dedication to workplace safety and health.” Employers can register online, and organizations planning to enroll six or more sites are asked to email the program directly to receive a spreadsheet for submitting site information.
What It Means for Subcontractors
- Field service firms, especially those running crews across multiple jobsites (civil, electrical, mechanical, scaffolding), can use the Aug. 10-16 window to schedule toolbox talks tied to a recognized federal initiative, which strengthens documentation for OSHA recordkeeping and safety program audits.
- Contractors with six or more sites need to email the program coordinator ahead of the week to get the multi-site spreadsheet, so safety managers should start that request now rather than waiting until the week begins.
- Participation offers a low-cost way to demonstrate a documented safety culture, useful when bidding on GC or owner-run projects that score subcontractor safety records as part of prequalification.
