Georgia Power Energizes 512-MWh Battery System at Robins Air Force Base
A 128-MW, four-hour battery energy storage system went into commercial operation at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia, Solar Power World reports. The 512-MWh facility works alongside the nearby Robins Solar Facility to reinforce grid resilience in Georgia Power’s territory.

Burns & McDonnell served as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor on the project and delivered it on schedule, according to Solar Power World. Rick Anderson, Georgia Power’s senior vice president and senior production officer, said the milestone reflects the utility’s push to pair battery storage with solar generation to build “a more flexible and resilient grid that can respond to customer needs during periods of peak demand while supporting Georgia’s continued growth.”
The Robins facility is one of four battery storage projects Georgia Power has in development. The utility has already completed battery storage installations in Cherokee and Lowndes counties totaling 579.5 MW combined, and it is nearing completion on a 57.5-MW facility in Floyd County. The company held an event to mark the Robins facility’s completion that drew local and state officials, including Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller, Georgia House Representative Anissa Jones, and Colonel Johari Hemphill of Robins Air Force Base, per Solar Power World.
