Galilee Energy Begins Site Prep at Zydeco-1 Well in Louisiana Ahead of July Spud

According to Drilling Contractor, Galilee Energy has begun site preparation activities at its Zydeco-1 well location in Acadia Parish, Louisiana, with a planned spud scheduled for the first week of July 2026.

Well Details and Project Scope

Civil works now underway include site preparation, drainage infrastructure installation, and access improvements in advance of RFC Drilling’s Rig 103 mobilization. Survey control points have been established and excavation is in progress, with activities expected to continue through June 2026.

Zydeco-1 will be drilled near the MacCabees et al-1 well, originally drilled in 1950 and subsequently plugged and abandoned. The new well targets the Upper Tweedel and Lower Tweedel sandstones to a depth of approximately 9,800 ft, with a resource target of up to 8 Bcf of gas and 0.5 MMbbl of condensate and oil. Following drilling, the well will undergo wireline logging, evaluation, and testing. Galilee has outlined a pathway to first production within approximately six months of a successful result.

What It Means for Subcontractors

  • Civil and pad construction work is active now. Site prep, drainage installation, and access road improvements are underway through June, meaning local civil contractors in the Acadia Parish area have an immediate window to pursue support work.
  • Rig mobilization is weeks away. RFC Drilling’s Rig 103 is inbound for an early July spud, creating near-term demand for rig support services including transportation, rigging, and location services.
  • A six-month production timeline extends the opportunity. If the well tests successfully, Galilee’s stated pathway to first production means flowline, facility, and surface construction subcontractors could see follow-on work into late 2026 or early 2027.
  • Watch the wireline and well testing phase. Post-drill evaluation includes wireline logging and well testing, so specialized service companies in those segments should be tracking this project closely.
