Tutor Perini Lands $140M Choctaw Casino Expansion in Oklahoma
Construction Dig reports that Tutor Perini Building Corp. has been selected to lead a $140 million renovation and expansion of the Choctaw Casino & Resort in Pocola, Oklahoma. The company announced the award on July 16, noting its subsidiary has been in preconstruction on the project since 2025. The scope covers extensive interior and exterior renovations to the existing hotel and casino, including upgrades to food and gaming venues, plus a new seven-story, 130-room hotel tower with a spa, fitness center and pool complex. Construction is set to begin in the third quarter of 2026. The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma owns the resort, and Tutor Perini said the contract value will be added to its backlog incrementally as design milestones are hit and later construction phases are awarded.
What It Means for Subcontractors
- Interior finish trades, food service equipment installers and gaming venue fit-out crews should position now for bid packages tied to the hotel/casino renovation, since preconstruction work has been underway since 2025 and construction starts Q3 2026.
- Mechanical, electrical and plumbing subs should watch for the new seven-story, 130-room tower scope, which includes spa, fitness center and pool complex work, all specialty installs that typically go out as separate subcontract packages once design milestones are finalized.
- Because Tutor Perini is adding contract value to backlog in phases, regional subs in eastern Oklahoma should expect staggered bid releases rather than a single lump-sum award, meaning opportunities to bid on later phases even after initial trade packages close.
