Texas Upstream Jobs Rise by 400 in June, TIPRO Data Shows
Texas upstream oil and gas employment increased by 400 jobs from May to June 2026, Permian Basin Oil & Gas Magazine reports, citing data released by the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association. The group’s analysis, based on U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics figures, showed service sector jobs climbed by 1,300 to 135,800, while oil and gas extraction jobs fell by 900 to 61,900. TIPRO said on July 17 that its workforce data “continues to indicate strong job postings for the Texas oil and natural gas industry.” Of the top 10 companies by unique job postings in June, five were service sector firms, two were midstream companies, and the remainder included a downstream company, a gasoline station/convenience store operator, and a fully integrated oil and gas company. TIPRO also reported that Texas producers paid $948 million in state production taxes in June, including $736 million from oil and $212 million from natural gas, funding public education and other state services.
