Skanska Lands $580M in New US Contracts Across Hotel and Data Center Work
According to Construction Dive, Skanska picked up two US contracts totaling $580 million this week. The Stockholm-based contractor won a $325 million deal from Portman Holdings to build a 700-room, 21-story Marriott hotel in downtown Cincinnati, with construction starting this month and completion targeted for late 2028. The company also announced a $255 million supplemental contract for a data center in Georgia, covering 245,000 square feet across five data halls and administration space, with completion set for the first quarter of 2028.
What It Means for Subcontractors
- A $325 million hotel project and a $255 million data center both moving into active construction phases mean subcontractor packages across mechanical, electrical, concrete, and specialty trades are likely in play or coming to market soon.
- The Georgia data center is already underway (construction began in March), so subs not already engaged should track future phases or similar Skanska data center pursuits in the Southeast.
- Skanska’s back-to-back wins reflect continued GC appetite for large commercial and technology infrastructure work, making the firm worth watching for bid opportunities across both sectors.
