Meta and ABC Invest $115M to Build Data Center Construction Workforce
According to Construction Executive, Meta Platforms Inc. and Associated Builders and Contractors have announced a $115 million partnership to train and place thousands of construction technicians for data center projects. Dubbed America’s Workforce Academy, the program features a five-week training curriculum and includes a job offer from contractors working on Meta projects. Initial markets include Indiana, Louisiana, Ohio, and Texas.
What It Means for Subcontractors
- A well-funded, structured pipeline of craft workers is coming online specifically for data center construction, meaning subcontractors active in that sector may gain access to pre-trained candidates.
- Contractors outside the ABC network could find themselves competing for the same labor pool that this program is filling, making early ABC membership or partnership worth a closer look.
- The data center build-out is driving serious institutional investment in workforce development, a signal that project volumes in this space are expected to stay high long enough to justify a $115 million training commitment.
