K-Line Construction Wins Phase 1 of $871M Gagetown Overhaul
Construction has officially started at 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown, with New Brunswick contractor K-Line Construction Limited leading Phase 1 of an approximately $871-million recapitalization program, On-Site Magazine reports.
National Defence marked the start of construction on August 25, following the June contract award to K-Line. The work is expected to support approximately 100 jobs in the region.

Phase 1 covers a broad mix of civil and institutional work: upgrades to priority roads, design for firebreak roads and replacement bridges, modernization of anti-armour range infrastructure, replacement of medical and administrative facilities at Camp Petersville, and restoration of select Austere Village buildings. The program is structured as a multi-phase pipeline rather than a single build. Phase 2 is expected to start in 2028 and will construct infrastructure designed during Phase 1, part of the roughly $1 billion announced for Gagetown back in April.
Defence Minister David J. McGuinty said investing in Gagetown supports “the readiness of the Canadian Army and in the people who serve Canada,” while also backing jobs in New Brunswick. Defence Construction Canada, the Crown corporation acting as contracting authority for the project, is playing a central coordinating role. Its president and CEO, Derrick Cheung, called the project a result of collaboration between National Defence, Defence Construction Canada, and industry partners.
