EPC Power Triples Capacity With New South Carolina Inverter Plant

Solar inverter manufacturer EPC Power is nearly tripling its production capacity with a new 167,000-sq-ft factory in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, Solar Power World reports. The company said the expansion responds to surging demand for power conversion technologies used in AI data centers.

Itโ€™s EPC Powerโ€™s second factory in South Carolina. The plant will manufacture the companyโ€™s M and MRACK series power inverters, which serve solar, grid, storage and AI data center applications. EPC Power said the facility will hit full production by the end of July, adding 27 GW of annual capacity and creating 275 new jobs. The company held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the site.

CEO Jim Fusaro said the added capacity gives data center and utility operators access to more domestically produced critical components, which he said โ€œde-risks their expansion plans and strengthens supply chain resilience.โ€

What It Means for Subcontractors

  • Electrical and E&I contractors serving data center and utility-scale storage projects in the Southeast should note EPC Powerโ€™s Fountain Inn facility reaches full production by end of July 2026, potentially shortening lead times on inverter procurement for pending jobs.
  • The 275 new jobs at the Fountain Inn plant signal ongoing facility buildout activity in South Carolinaโ€™s Upstate region; local trades (electrical, mechanical, facility maintenance) should watch for staffing and support contract opportunities tied to plant ramp-up.
  • Domestic inverter production growth (27 GW annual capacity added) gives solar and storage EPCs a US-based supply alternative, which subcontractors bidding data center power infrastructure packages can use to counter import-driven schedule risk in project timelines.
