Citizen Energy Has Eight Anadarko Wells Online, Up to 12 Next
Up to 12 more Cherokee Formation wells are planned in Oklahomaโs Anadarko basin, following Citizen Energy Venturesโ completion of eight wells that were all producing at the end of August 2026, World Oil reports. The 2025 drilling fund behind those eight wells deployed more than $80 million in equity, and the program is now substantially complete. Citizen Energy says all eight came in at or below authorized expenditure budgets.
The 2026 fund launched earlier this year as a $20 million private placement, with an option to raise equity to $30 million. It will invest alongside institutional investors, previous investors and management. Founder and president James Woods said the team has drilled and completed more than 300 horizontal wells in the Anadarko basin over more than a decade.
What It Means for Subcontractors
- Scope is up to 12 wells, but no schedule is public. The report gives no spud dates, rig contractor or vendor awards. Lease-road, pad, flowline and facility subs should ask Citizen Energy directly for the 12-well sequence. With 300+ horizontal wells behind it, the company likely already has a vendor list (our inference, not stated in the source), so pitch against incumbents.
- Expect cost discipline on pricing. All eight 2025 wells were delivered at or below authorized budgets. Bids for the 2026 wells will likely be measured against that record, so have unit rates ready for pad and flowline work.
- Funding is the gate on well count. The 12 wells are โup to,โ tied to a $20 million fund (expandable to $30 million) that will invest alongside institutional investors, previous investors and management. The source gives no closing date, so ask Citizen Energy whether the full 12 are funded before committing crews or equipment to this program.
