According to BOE Report, FTI Consulting Canada was appointed receiver of Halo Exploration Ltd. on February 10, 2026, by Alberta’s Court of King’s Bench. The private Alberta-based producer holds 100% working interest in Kaybob Montney and Duvernay properties producing 379 barrels of oil equivalent per day, with 420 identified drilling locations and $7.1 million in proved developed producing reserves.

What It Means for Subcontractors

  • New ownership opportunities: The sale process could bring in operators with different spending patterns and service provider preferences than the previous management
  • Drilling activity potential: With 420 identified locations and new ownership likely seeking to maximize value, drilling and completion work could ramp up under the right buyer
  • Payment risk assessment: Companies working in the area should monitor the receivership process, as new ownership typically means cleaner balance sheets and more reliable payments going forward
