Origis Energy Nears 1-GW Milestone at Rockhound Solar Complex in Texas
Origis Energy has brought three additional phases of its Rockhound Solar complex in Ector County, Texas, into commercial operation, pushing the site’s total capacity to nearly 1 GW, Solar Power World reports. The new phases add roughly 500 MW, and the full complex, which includes the operational Swift Air Solar facilities, is expected to exceed 2 GW of solar and storage capacity by 2029. Long-term offtake contracts back the project with Meta, Occidental, dsm-firmenich and Bekaert. CEO Vikas Anand said the milestone reflects the company’s ability to “deliver complex, multi-phase infrastructure projects with safety, quality, speed and certainty.” Origis is now marketing the next phase, roughly 1 GW of additional solar and storage capacity, for data center co-location and corporate offtake deals.
