Continental Resources Puts Its Name on New OKC Arena in 15-Year Deal

Continental Resources has secured naming rights to the Oklahoma City Thunder's new arena, set to open in 2028. Here's what the deal signals for field service companies working in the Midcontinent.

FieldNews Staff |

According to Oklahoma Energy Today, Continental Resources, the Oklahoma City-based oil company founded by Harold Hamm, has entered a 15-year naming rights partnership with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The new NBA arena, designed by MANICA Architecture and scheduled to open in summer 2028, will be called Continental Coliseum. Financial terms were not disclosed.

What It Means for Subcontractors

  • Continental is signaling long-term confidence in its brand and regional presence, which typically correlates with sustained capital spending, a positive sign for field service companies working in the Midcontinent and SCOOP/STACK plays.
  • High-profile sponsorship commitments like this often come when an operator’s balance sheet is strong, suggesting Continental remains a stable client for oilfield subcontractors.
  • A 15-year naming commitment reflects the kind of institutional staying power that subcontractors should note when evaluating Continental as a long-term client in Oklahoma and surrounding basins.
