Claremore Data Center Deal Sends $172M to Oklahoma Schools, County
OK Energy Today reports that a data center project near Claremore, Oklahoma, developed by Beale Infrastructure, will generate $172 million in payment-in-lieu-of-taxes (PILOT) funds over 25 years for area schools and public agencies. Sequoyah Public Schools will receive the largest share at $100 million, followed by Oologah-Talala Public Schools ($26 million), Northeast Technology Center ($22 million), Rogers County ($20 million), Rogers County Health Board ($3 million), Oologah-Talala Emergency Medical Services ($1 million) and the Rogers County Fair Board ($470,000). Annual PILOT payments begin once construction wraps. City leaders say construction starts this fall and will run five to seven years. Beale has also committed $5 million to a Claremore Community Betterment Fund, paid in two installments by the end of 2026 and 2027, earmarked for parks and quality-of-life projects. City manager John Feary projects the project could bring more than $400 million in long-term electric and sales tax revenue over 30 years, calling the potential $15 million to $20 million in annual revenue a โgame changerโ against the cityโs current $19 million total sales tax collection.
What It Means for Subcontractors
- The five-to-seven-year construction window signals sustained demand for civil, electrical and mechanical trades starting this fall; contractors should position now to bid site work and infrastructure packages tied to the buildout.
- Large community benefit agreements like Sequoyahโs $100 million PILOT often accompany local-hire or apprenticeship expectations on public-facing infrastructure projects; subcontractors bidding county or school-funded work in Rogers County should confirm whether local-hire terms are attached to any resulting RFPs.
- The $5 million Community Betterment Fund, paid out in two installments through 2026 and 2027, could fund smaller municipal projects (parks, community spaces) that create bid opportunities for landscaping, site prep and general contracting firms in the Claremore area.
