Canada's Top 10 Pre-Bid Tunnel and Bridge Projects Ranked by Value, June 2026
According to the Daily Commercial News, ConstructConnect’s June 30, 2026 ranking of Canada’s top pre-bid tunnel and bridge projects is led by three major public-sector corridors totaling over $13.5 billion CAD. Ontario’s Highway 413 Transportation Corridor tops the list at $6 billion CAD, covering a new 52-km highway connecting York, Peel, and Halton regions plus extensions to Highways 410 and 427. British Columbia’s Fraser River Tunnel replacement on Highway 99 ranks second at $4.15 billion CAD, and Hamilton’s LRT from McMaster University to Eastgate Square rounds out the top three at $3.4 billion CAD.
What It Means for Subcontractors
- Heavy civil subcontractors specializing in earthworks, paving, and bridge construction should be tracking these projects now, as pre-bid stage means procurement windows are approaching.
- All three top projects are public-sector provincial contracts, meaning bonding, certified payroll, and provincial procurement compliance will be standard requirements for any bidding team.
- BC and Ontario dominate the top of this list, so regional subcontractors in those provinces have the most immediate opportunity to position themselves with general contractors already assembling bid teams.
