Phoenix Energy Tops 50,000 Bopd in Williston Basin

Independent producer Phoenix Energy has crossed 50,000 bopd of production in the Williston Basin, reaching approximately 50,700 bopd on July 19, World Oil reports. The company, founded in 2019, grew from roughly 100 bopd at the start of 2024 to the current milestone through a mix of operated drilling, royalty acquisitions and non-operated working interests across North Dakota and Montana. Production climbed about 60% year-over-year between June 2025 and June 2026.

CEO Adam Ferrari called the milestone โ€œa foundation for continued responsible development and operational excellenceโ€ rather than a finish line, while COO David Scadden credited field and technical teams for executing the scale-up โ€œwhile maintaining operational integrity.โ€ Phoenix said it plans to keep expanding development across its Williston Basin asset base and publishes production updates through its investor reporting platform.

What It Means for Subcontractors

  • Drilling, completion and workover crews in the Bakken should expect continued activity from Phoenix as the company builds on its 50,000 bopd base rather than pulling back, given managementโ€™s stated focus on further development.
  • Non-operated working interests and royalty acquisitions in Phoenixโ€™s portfolio mean subcontractors may see indirect work tied to partner operators across North Dakota and Montana acreage, not just Phoenix-operated wells.
  • Field service providers, including trucking, water handling and wellsite construction crews, should watch Phoenixโ€™s investor reporting platform for updated production and rig activity data that can signal near-term staffing and equipment needs.
